Make keto cake:
- Make cake. Beat together the Besti and butter, until fluffy. Beat in eggs, almond milk, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth. Then beat in almond flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sea salt, until smooth.
- Bake cake. Spread the batter in the pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake and let cool.
Make keto frosting:
- Mix frosting. Using a hand mixer, beat butter until fluffy. Beat in cocoa powder, Besti, and vanilla extract. Beat in heavy cream until smooth and fluffy, adding more to thin out as needed.
Assemble cake pops:
- Form cake pops. Crumble cake into a large bowl. Add frosting and stir until combined. Form mixture into 1 1/2 inch balls and set aside. Insert stick into each cake ball. Chill balls to help firm up.
TIP: Dip the tip of the stick into melted chocolate before inserting to help secure.
- Decorate cake pops. Dip the cake balls into melted chocolate.
- Decorate. Dip into sprinkles and place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet, until set.
TIP: You can find sugar-free sprinkles here, or if you have trouble finding ones without sugar, you can always make these plain chocolate dipped without sprinkles, too.
Sugar-Free Cake Pop Recipe FAQs
How many carbs in cake pops?
Average cake pops have more than 30 grams of carbs.
Because we’re using almond flour and keto sweeteners in this recipe, each cake pop has just 4.2 grams net carbs.
Are cake pops keto?
Most cake pops are not keto as they are made with flour and sugar.
The Wholesome Yum almond flour and Besti that we use in this recipe makes them keto friendly cake pops!
Can I use a different sweetener?
You’ll need both a granulated and powdered sweetener for this recipe.
- Granulated – Besti Monk Fruit Allulose Blend is recommended for baked goods and cakes as it creates the best texture and flavor – just like sugar. You can also use allulose or erythritol.
- Powdered – Again, Besti Powdered Monk Fruit Allulose Blend is the closest to sugar and what I recommend, but you can also use powdered allulose or powdered erythritol.

Almond and coconut flours are so gross to me, could I sub some or all with protein powder?
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Hi Katie, No, we don’t recommend doing that, it won’t work for this recipe (or most other recipes using almond or coconut flour, they are very different from protein powder).

Can’t find ANY sugar-free sprinkles (and without unpronounciable additives for color or preserving 🙁 ) where I live… since I’m quite sure I’m not the only one with this problem, aside the US fortunate readers, could you consider to create a recipe to teach us how to make them ourselves? That would be so helpful…!
Maya | Wholesome Yum
Thank you for the feedback, Roberta! You can omit the sprinkles in the meantime, but we’ll add it to our list to create a recipe in the future.
