How To Make Keto Chocolate Donuts
These keto chocolate donuts with almond flour are easy to make! Here’s how we do it:
- Prep donut pan. Preheat oven and grease a donut pan well.
- Make chocolate keto donuts batter. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, almond milk, eggs, and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients. Sift in almond flour, sweetener, baking powder, cocoa powder, sea salt, and xanthan gum into wet ingredients.

- Bake low carb donuts. Transfer the batter to donut pan. Fill donut cavities about 3/4 of the way full and bake for about 20-25 minutes.
- Make keto chocolate donut glaze. In a small bowl, sift Besti and cocoa powder together. Add water and vanilla, and mix well.

- Glaze donuts. After the donuts have cooled, dip the tops of each donut into the chocolate glaze mixture.

Can I use a different sweetener to make low carb keto donuts?
Yes, you can. You’ll need:
- Granulated sweetener for keto donuts – like crystallized allulose, crystallized monk fruit, or granulated erythritol
- Powdered sweetener for the chocolate glaze – like powdered allulose, powdered monk fruit, or powdered erythritol
TIP: If possible, use a sweetener that contains allulose, like Besti monk fruit or plain allulose. This will make the best keto donuts in terms of texture.
Can I use a different flour?
No. Blanched almond flour can’t be swapped with coconut flour in this recipe, sorry!
Also, be sure you are using a super fine blanched almond flour like this. Using a coarser one will make grainy donuts… no, thanks.
Can you make keto donuts ahead?
Definitely! These keto friendly donuts store great on the counter for a couple of days, or in the fridge for up to a week.

Chocolate Keto Donuts:
- 1/4 cup Butter (melted)
- 1/4 cup Unsweetened almond milk
- 4 large Eggs
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 cup Blanched almond flour
- 1/4 cup Besti Monk Fruit Erythritol Blend
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
- 1/8 tsp Sea salt
- 1/2 tsp Xanthan gum
Chocolate Glaze:
- 1/4 cup Besti Powdered Monk Fruit Erythritol Blend
- 1 tbsp Cocoa powder
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tbsp Water (add another 1/2 tbsp to thin out if needed)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C). Grease a donut pan well.

In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, almond milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Sift the almond flour, Besti, baking powder, cocoa powder, sea salt, and xanthan gum into the wet ingredients, and mix well.

Transfer the batter evenly into the donut cavities, filling the all the way to the top. Bake for about 20-25 minutes (or longer for a silicone pan!). Cool completely.

Meanwhile, make chocolate glaze. In a small bowl, sift the powdered Besti and cocoa powder together. Add water and vanilla, and mix well.

After donuts have cooled, dip the tops of each donut into the chocolate glaze.

Found the donuts a little on the bland side but easy to make which matches my skill level. Found the flavoring comes from the glaze. I didn’t have powdered allulose. I melted peanut butter and dipped in.

Delicious! Great recipe. The texture was just right after they cooled. I topped with melted sugar-free chocolate chips with a little coconut oil and it was just the sweetness it needed. If you are not frosting, the recipe definitely needs more sweetener but with a sweet topping, the balance is excellent. These will go into my permanent rotation for keto treats.

These turned out so good. The cakey-ness is perfect. My kids even loved them. After they had one each, I told them they were healthy and they still wanted more later. 🙂
I didn’t have the same sweetener, so used another brand for both the granulated and powdered parts in the recipe. I like the taste of monk fruit, so I imagine the Erithritol/Monkfruit blend is yummy.
Also, since I wanted the kids to enjoy them, I made the glaze with half powdered sweetener and half regular powdered sugar. Next time I’ll try the recipe with all zero-carb/calorie sweeter as it calls for, or if I use a little regular powdered sugar again, I’ll use even less.

Made these chocolate donuts to bring to the Minnesota State Fair tomorrow and they stuck to the pan – very disappointing! I used coconut oil to grease the donut pan, still would not come out nice and now I have a crumbly mess – ugh!

Hi Cheryl, Yes, the sweetener in the glaze should be powdered for a smooth texture. If you have granulated Besti specifically, that one in particular dissolves better than other sweeteners so you could try it to see if it’s smooth enough. That definitely won’t work with other sweeteners, though.

These were really good. I did use 1/2 Lupin flour and 1/2 Almond flour which resulted in a very authentic texture. I also used 1/2 granulated Erythritol and 1/2 Allulose. The donut itself was perfect. But the glaze was just ok since I used all powdered Erythritol and I don’t like the cooling effect. I’m afraid to use 100% allulose due to the digestion issues 😉

I used this recipe to make 24 “brownie bites”. I used my mini muffin pans and just spooned in the batter. ( The batter was too runny to roll into balls for donut holes.) They are delicious. I didn’t even need to glaze or ice.

We loved these donuts. I did use Allulose for the glaze and while it was delicious, the glaze didn’t ever firm up. Is Erythritol my only option for the glaze? Or maybe I should just try to use more Allulose? I appreciate your advice.

Hi Jenny, The amount needed can vary depending on how the sweetener settles, you can just add more to reach the consistency you need for the glaze.

I made these as donut holes in a cake pop iron. I added an extra 1/4 cup of sweetener which was just right. For some I added about 1 dark chocolate chip in the middle. I made a simple glaze with powdered sweetener, vanilla, and almond milk for some.
