What Is Erythritol?
Erythritol is a natural sweetener that we can’t metabolize [*], which means it tastes like sugar without spiking our blood sugar. Found in fruits and vegetables, it’s 70% as sweet as sugar.
Erythritol is part of the family of sugar alcohols, which are found in nature, but it is unique compared to others such as sorbitol or maltitol. Erythritol is the only one that has a glycemic index of zero and is easier to digest.
✅ Zero calories
✅ Zero grams net carbs
✅ Zero glycemic index
Erythritol is the perfect natural sweetener and sugar replacement!

Besti is Wholesome Yum’s line of natural, sugar-free sweeteners – they are Nature’s Sugar Replacement. We carry premium, non-GMO pure erythritol and allulose, as well as our signature Besti monk fruit blends with erythritol or allulose, for easy 1:1 sugar alternatives in granulated and powdered form.
Why Use Erythritol Sweetener?
Erythritol is nature’s sugar replacement. It has the main benefits of using sugar…
✅ Tastes like sugar – with no aftertaste!
✅ Bakes like sugar
…But unlike sugar, there is no blood sugar spike and crash, fat storage, tooth decay, or other negative effects of sugar.
What Does Erythritol Taste Like?
Erythritol tastes like sugar! Many sugar alternatives have a chemical or bitter aftertaste, but erythritol does not.
Some people say there is a mild cooling sensation, which is not unpleasant and not usually noticeable when using it in cooking and baking.
Is Erythritol A Good Sugar Replacement For Me?
Yes, erythritol is a versatile natural sugar replacement for everyone! Whether you are trying to cut carbs, lose weight, or simply reducing sugar intake, erythritol is an excellent sugar-free sweetener to use.
In addition to taste and texture, our erythritol ticks all the boxes for a healthier sugar replacement:
How To Use Erythritol Sugar-Free Sweetener
Use Besti erythritol sweetener to replace granulated sugar in your favorite sweet recipes, including desserts, baked goods, drinks, sauces, and more!
It tastes and bakes the same way sugar does.
Granulated erythritol has the same consistency as granulated sugar.
Erythritol produces both crispy and soft baked goods, which is great for cookies, cakes, muffins, pancakes, and many other uses for a sugar replacement. Here are some alternatives for other uses:
- For uses where you’d need the sweetener to dissolve, try using allulose sweetener instead.
- For super smooth texture, such as frostings, sauces, dressings, and cheesecakes, use powdered erythritol sweetener or powdered allulose sweetener instead.
- For a 1:1 sugar replacement without doing conversions, use our Besti monk fruit sweetener blend instead.
Because erythritol is 70% as sweet as sugar, you’ll need 1 1/3 cups erythritol to replace each cup of sugar:
Besti Erythritol Sweetener – Granulated
I just finished a ketogenic diet and thought I would try some reduced-sugar baking. I used the erythritol in a brownie recipe and the flavor was very good. I did notice a cooling sensation in my mouth and I understand that’s not uncommon for some applications. I decided to renamed the recipe “arctic brownies” which was pretty popular with the neighbors (I give away most of what I bake). I fell overall happy with the purchase I’ve decided to try some other items next, like the Monk fruit sweetener. My goal is to try all the different sweeteners in various recipes.
Thank you very much for your review! The cooling sensation that you're experiencing is actually very common with Erythritol-based sweeteners. I would highly recommend that you try my Monk Fruit Allulose sweetener (https://www.wholesomeyumfoods.com/shop/sweeteners/monk-fruit/monk-fruit-allulose-blend/) as one of the advantages of Allulose-based sweeteners is the lack of any cooling sensation and after-taste.
I love the taste, so tasty and the price, wow.
I use the brown and confectioners the most! Very good quality. Family loves the taste, too. I love experimenting with different recipes, my husband loves that too!
This is 1 of 2 items I purchased to make my homemade Granola, because I have insulin resistance and chronic inflammation and can not use sugar. It did NOT disappoint, I recommend it.
I love all your products, especially your powered sugar
I was so disapointed to hear you are discontinuing this awesome sugar replacement; Erithritol Sweetener. I luv the cooling after taste. Every one who I treat my deserts to all rave about the taste. I even give them your Wholesome Yum website too.
I also use your powered Erithritol. It is a great sprinkler on so many things, especially pancakes and waffles. When I tell them it is sugar free, they can not believe it! I recently made banana bread with erithritol, gave some to my friend. He could not believe it wasn't sugar! This sweetener will be sorely missed.
I stocked up on these as they are no longer going to be sold here which makes me a little sad but they are an awesome deal. I do not eat a lot of sweets but like treats for special occasions. Erythritol does give cookies and baked goods a crunch that you cannot get from allulose. I find using all erythritol does leave a cooling sensation so I tend to mix erythritol with other sweeteners (xylitol, allulose, monk fruit and stevia) to give a more rounded flavour with little impact on texture. If you get a chance before they are sold out, I would highly recommend stocking up on this deal.
I have used Besti Erythriotol in place of sugar. I could not tell a difference in my recipe. It even passed the husband and son test. Neither of them realized that I had changed anything. Since my husband is also diabetic, this is wonderful. He usually doesn't eat anything that doesn't have real sugar in it. Therefore, I can use the Besti Erythritol in my recipes and help him (and myself) follow our low sugar diet which in turn helps our weight loss. I am very excited to be able to make recipes that call for sugar. We had pretty much cut out of our diet. Thank you for creating products that are helping us to follow a Keto Diet!
I've been watching the Wholesome Yum site for about 6 months for various low-carb recipes. I made the hotdog & hamburger rolls and both turned out very good. They not only served the purpose of holding the meat, they were also very filling and satisfying. On a whim, I decided to see what products are for sale. I had used Erythritol and Xylitol in the past and never saw Allulose before. After doing some research I decided to give it a try. It was available from other online dealers but I wanted to buy from Wholesome Yum because I felt that someone who was invested in healthy foods would also sell a product with no or little additional ingredients like preservatives and anti-caking agents. I used the Allulose in some Cole slaw and it worked great. There was no after taste that I've noticed with other artificial sweeteners. I really could not tell any difference between this version and my original Cole slaw recipe. This product was a bit finer than I would have expected for something that was granulated so I needed to be careful when measuring it. However this was a good thing for two reasons. It dissolved very easily and since Allulose is not as sweet as sugar, the powdered product could be used almost one for one for granulated sugar when measured by volume. I am very satisfied.
Cheesecake was great. Have used it in past for cookies. Only down side is cost! Very expensive.
