How To Use Psyllium Husk Powder
If you’re wondering how to use psyllium husk powder, here are the main ways…
Psyllium Husk Powder For Baking
The best way to use psyllium husk powder is to bake with it! It functions as a thickener, binding agent, and texture enhancer, all in one.
Add small amounts of powder (most commonly 2-6 tablespoons, depending on the recipe) to any baked recipe where a chewy texture is desired, such as bread or pizza crust. Be sure to add water or extra liquid to compensate, because it absorbs moisture.
Psyllium Husk Powder For Fiber
To use as a fiber supplement, stir 1 teaspoon ground psyllium husk powder into 8 ounces of water or other liquid.
Do not consume the powder without a full glass of liquid, as this can cause choking or constipation due to the high fiber content.

Wholesome Yum Psyllium Husk Powder
I am new to the Keto/low carb world. I am not a great cook or baker, but I’m learning. This website has been so helpful! I bought psyllium husk powder and decided to try almond flour keto bread today,, which I’ve never ever done-seemed way too intimidating!. I must say It turned out great-the first time! My husband likes it and we are looking forward to supper so we can eat more! I followed the instructions to the T and baked it longer than I thought it needed; glad I did. It’s perfect. So proud of myself if I must say so! Can’t wait to share the almond bread recipe with my other keto friends. Thank you again for offering such great-and easy-recipes. It’s turning me into a cook and a baker, which I actually enjoy. Never thought I would say that!
Purchased Wholesome Yum Psyllium Husk Powder and was not disappointed. It was exactly as advertised. I loved that it did not turn my bread purple!
I've used a few brands of psyllium husk powder, and the Wholesome Yum one is my favourite. It is very finely ground and it therefore has a fabulous texture. A half tablespoon of the Wholesome Yum powder thickens up liquid as much as a whole tablespoon of some other brands I've tried. I've used several bags over the past year, and the quality has been consistent. I mix it with some powdered sweetener, collagen powder, and flax or chia then add almond milk to make a pudding. I've also used it in my keto bread recipe It performs well there too. I like it so much I now have a subscription for it.
I have been following the Keto diet for the last three years now, baking and cooking different items. When a recipe called for psyllium husk powder, I immediately went to my kitchen cabinet and used my husband's powder. He mixes it with water to make a fiber drink and it helps keep him regular. Whoa, couldn't believe my bread came out of the oven with a purple tinge. After I discovered this powder by Wholesome Yum, I will never use another brand again. The powder is so fine and helps bind my Keto bread, giving it great texture to already great tasting bread. Thank you for offering this!
I mix 2 tsp with 5/4 cup of water for my gf vegan naan-esque bread and it turns out great. Tried the non-powder stuff from Bulk Barn (Canada) and it falls apart, even after blending it thoroughly. Since I have histamine sensitivity as well, I use this with 2-3 tsp of Purest Natural baking powder, as I find that others tend to have a residual taste. A quarter cup of sunflower seed butter can also help keep things together, combined with this.
This is the best psyllium husk fiber available. I have tried making bread with other brands that claim to not turn your bread purple, but this is the only one that truly delivered on the promise. Not only does it not make the bread discolored, it also created a great texture and didn’t have the “ground glass” crunchiness. Thank you, thank you, thank you Wholesome Yum for such a satisfying product!
I was a little concerned when I saw the size of the package, but after opening, it fluffed out to an expected appearance. I can’t wait to try more of your products!
Just started using psyllium husk powder. I look forward to use in several keto recipes. Used in making chaffles and helped with the eggy taste. Can’t wait to use it more. Waiting for Maya’s new cookbook coming in May. Thanks Maya for this great product..
Love this product and what it does. Great quality and best of all, leaves NO PURPLE tint to anything you bake! Will purchase again soon.
I used the psyllium husk powder in place of xanthum gum for Maya’s pound cake recipe and it worked great! Will definitely use again when a “thickener” is needed in a receive.
I used this in a bread recipe and it worked great. Made a good tasting loaf of bread.
