What Is Allulose?
Allulose is a natural sugar that we can’t metabolize [*], which means it tastes and acts like sugar without spiking our blood sugar. Found in fruit, maple syrup and other plants, it’s 70% as sweet as sugar.
The name “allulose” sounds like glucose, fructose, lactose, and other sugar names, because it’s in the same family. But unlike these sugars, we can’t process allulose.
That means allulose has:
✅ Zero calories
✅ Zero grams net carbs
✅ Zero glycemic index
Allulose is the perfect natural sweetener and sugar replacement!
What Is Besti?
Besti is Wholesome Yum’s line of natural, sugar-free sweeteners – they are Nature’s Sugar Replacement. We carry premium, non-GMO pure erythritol and allulose, as well as our signature Besti monk fruit blends with erythritol or allulose, for easy 1:1 sugar alternatives in granulated and powdered form.
Why Use Powdered Allulose Sweetener?
Allulose is nature’s sugar replacement. It has all the benefits of using powdered sugar…
✅ Tastes like powdered sugar – with no aftertaste!
✅ Sprinkles like powdered sugar
✅ Dissolves like powdered sugar – unlike sugar alcohols!
✅ Browns like powdered sugar – unlike most sweeteners!
…But unlike sugar, there is no blood sugar spike and crash, fat storage, tooth decay, or other negative effects of sugar.
What Does Powdered Allulose Taste Like?
Powdered allulose tastes exactly like powdered sugar, because it is in fact a rare type of sugar (minus the carbs and calories)! The only difference is it’s slightly less sweet. In fact, we challenge you to tell the difference between powdered allulose and powdered sugar in your own blind taste test.
Many sugar alternatives have a chemical or bitter aftertaste, but allulose does not. Unlike erythritol, it also does not have any cooling sensation.
Is Allulose A Good Powdered Sugar Replacement For Me?
Yes, allulose is a versatile natural powdered sugar replacement for everyone! Whether you are trying to cut carbs, lose weight, or simply reducing sugar intake, allulose is an excellent sugar-free sweetener to use.
In addition to taste and texture, our allulose ticks all the boxes for a healthier powdered sugar replacement:
How To Use Powdered Allulose Sugar-Free Sweetener
Use Besti powdered allulose sweetener to replace powdered sugar in your favorite sweet recipes, including frostings, toppings, sauces, and more!
It tastes, bakes, browns, and dissolves the same way powdered sugar does.
Powdered allulose has the same consistency as powdered sugar.
Powdered allulose works beautifully anywhere you need a smooth texture, such as frosting, sauce, glaze, dressing, sprinkling, and most other uses for a powdered sugar replacement. Here are some alternatives for other uses:
- For regular baking, use crystallized allulose sweetener instead.
- For a 1:1 powdered sugar replacement, try powdered monk fruit allulose blend.
Because allulose is 70% as sweet as sugar, you’ll need 1 1/3 cups powdered allulose to replace each cup of powdered sugar:

Wholesome Yum Allulose came highly recommended by Maria Emmerich and I agree that it is great. I've used this sweetener a few times to make ice cream and each time the ice cream has been easy to scoop, smooth, and delicious. I've also used it to make condensed milk. I have not noticed any cooling effect or aftertaste. I've already purchased a few more bags and I'm looking forward to using this sweetener to try some frosting and sauces. If you're looking for a sweetener that keep things soft, does not crystalize, and is not processed by your body like fructose, this allulose is for you. I look forward to many more delicious desserts!
We are always looking for something sweet to satisfy those craving, especially when you are on a Ketogenic Plan. In my opinion, Besti Powered Allulose for those baked goods and treats works perfectly, easy to use and tastes awesome. Plus, its nice to have the added health benefits of using Allulose as your sweetener. I make and use it in my Cream Cheese Pound Cake (was using Swerve) but found this a superior complement to my recipe. Recently, I tried it when making my own Chocolate Walnut Bark, who doesn't like Chocolate. Only 4 ingredients, easy peasy and it dissolves quickly. Give it a try...you wouldn't be disappointed!
I used this sweetener to make a drizzle for an almond-flour coffee cake. I need to adjust the cooking temp and time for the coffee cake (I don't have a stoneware baking pan and silicone bread pans made it cook too slow on the inside, and burn on the exterior). And still the drizzle was incredible, worked perfectly, and tasted great!
I use allulose for making ice cream -- best there is. And now I have an excellent 'diabetic sugar' for icing and drizzle! I'm just getting into very-low-carb baking and desserts, and my BG is loving it. Great price, too!
I used this sweetener in ice tea and fresh blueberry muffins and the taste was great - no aftertaste and the mixing was easy. I hope to be baking several items but since I bought all the sweetener's, I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to bake.
I'm sorry I do photo's - you'll have to take my word for it.
I used the powdered allulose to make frosting and it was grainy and tasted like alcohol, not smooth or sugary tasting. In fact, I threw away all the frosting because it was so gross. I'm super bummed. I was really looking forward to success with this product, especially after reading so many good reviews and having success with other products in this line.
Hi Amy, Sorry to hear you had issues with your frosting! Besti should not make anything taste like alcohol, as it doesn't contain any (not even sugar alcohol!). Is it possible you added too much vanilla extract or another ingredient that may have caused this? It also shouldn't be grainy, that's usually a sign it just needs to be beaten for longer, did you use a hand or stand mixer? It should be smooth but if you're particularly sensitive to texture, next time you can try stirring the powdered allulose into a small amount of melted butter to dissolve before mixing with your frosting ingredients. Hope this helps!
I recently tried Wholesome Yum Besti Allulose Powdered Sweetener and I was blown away by how great it tasted. It's the perfect substitute for regular powdered sugar, but without all the added calories and sugar. It's made with all-natural ingredients and has zero glycemic impact, making it perfect for those who are watching their sugar intake. I just started a keto diet and have been using some of wholesome yums recipes along with their ingredients and it has made it soooo much easier for me to "ditch" the carbs. I was honestly kinda struggling to figure it all out before finding the Wholesome Yum website and store....
The texture of the Besti Allulose Powdered Sweetener is smooth and perfect for baking!
Overall, I highly recommend Wholesome Yum Besti Allulose Powdered Sweetener. It's a fantastic alternative to traditional sugar and it tastes great too. Plus, it's a healthier option for those who want to enjoy the sweetness without all the extra calories and sugar. Five stars from me for sure!!!
LOVE this Allulose! The texture is so fluffy and smooth. I bake alot of sugar free sweets and this was delicious! I made cream cheese frosting and yum! And no lumps to try and break up. Love it!
Clean. Easy to mix. Delicious taste.
I use it in glaze recipes, frostings, and as a topping for PSMF French toast.
I was looking for a sweetener that does not raise blood sugar levels. I was using sugar alcohols (erythritol) until I found out they promote the accumulation of belly fat. The whole reason I use sugar replacements is to maintain a healthy weight and blood insulin levels. I like allulose because it has not shown harmful side effects and it tastes great.
I use only allulose powdered sweetner for my KETO baking because it dissolves well and tastes the best.
